Coastal Canvas Products
Coastal Canvas Products hosted students from H. V. Jenkins High School’s School of Engineering to see several processes in action including a CNC plasma table, CNC fabric cutting table, vinyl cutting, sewing and welding in addition to using a 3-D scanner to produce a model. Students also got to spend time with employees learning about the sales, design, engineering and installation processes.

Wayfair
During the startup of the Wayfair facility, unexpected construction delays put them in a position where they had already begun the hiring process but didn’t have work for their new employees. Wayfair took this opportunity to give back to the community via volunteering at local non-profits. The associates, who Wayfair continued to pay, were not only able to gain a sense of fulfillment, build relationships with local non-profits and ideas from their experiences that Wayfair has woven into their site’s company culture.

Thomas & Hutton provided Savannah Chatham County Public School students exposure to a career with an emphasis in engineering with organized student activities including the Wards Floodplain Simulator and a straw bridge design & construction competition. Students were able to learn and work together while gaining exposure to the engineering world.

In addition to funding and executing one of the largest brownfield environmental remediations in the state, Dulany Industries, Inc. and its subsidiary SeaPoint Industrial Terminal Complex boasts a solar farm, honeybee hives, a steam-driven electricity generator and the Cleantech Campus @ SeaPoint. The Cleantech Campus @ SeaPoint is a technology incubator supporting organizations and higher education institutions advancing clean technologies related to manufacturing, warehousing and logistics.

Sabriya Scott, Broker for Scott Realty Professionals, is a passionate advocate for youth success. She established the Ruby J. Scott Book Scholarship awarded to local high school seniors.
